It appears that this year's SEMA Show->ke216 will be all about powerful cars. Yesterday, Hyundai->ke201 announced the first details on a 1,000-horsepower Genesis Coupe, and now HRE Wheels has 1,200-horsepower surprise prepared for Las Vegas.

All that HRE revealed about its "surprise" is that is was developed by the team at Pure Vision LLC, and that it will feature the company's newest wheels. From the picture above, it's pretty clear that the model will be a heavily modified Chevrolet Camaro Coupe from the 1970s that is likely fitted with a modern V-8 engine.

The vehicle seems to be updated with a new hood, front spoiler and rear wing, all made from carbon fiber.

Everything else we have on this 1,200-horsepower HRE-built monster is pure speculation, but as SEMA inches closer, we're sure more information will start rolling out.

1970s Chevrolet Camaro

During the 1970s the Camaro was in its second generation. Chevrolet unveiled it in 1970, after the first generation remained in production for about three years. Just like its predecessor, the second-generation Camaro was based on a F-body platform and used a unibody structure with a subframe and an A-arm suspension up front, and leaf springs out back.

The engine lineup was mostly carried from the first generation, as it ranged from a 155-horsepower, 250-cubic-inch six-cylinder to a 350- or 375-horsepower, 396-cubic-inch V-8.
