If you’ve ever tried writing out a message on an Etch A Sketch, you know just how challenging a task this can be. Now, imagine replacing the grey material inside of the iconic red-framed toy with almost two square miles of desert, and instead of the two knobs there are 11 new Hyundai Genesis sedans. This is exactly what Hyundai->ke201 did when Stephanie from Houston, TX wanted to send a message to her dad – who just happens to be working on the International Space Station.

To pull off this feat, Hyundai used computers to map out a message, and the cars – with studded tires – to carve the words into Delmar Dry Lake bed in southern Nevada. The end result was so precise that it actually resembled the girl’s handwriting.

And proving as a worthy witness to dispel skeptics, the message made it into the Guinness World Record record book for being the "largest tire track image," measuring 5.55 square kilometers (or about 2.15 square miles). Even better, Stephanie’s dad was able to see and photograph the message from outer space!

The video, titled “A Message to Space,” is equal parts amazing and heartwarming, showing how the message was created as well as the final product, but if you want a more in-depth look at how the stunt was pulled off, check out the behind-the-scenes video here.
