Just yesterday Infiniti->ke36 has announced a new naming strategy and rumors suggested the possibility of adding a new flagship sedan to its lineup. Today, Infiniti chief Johan de Nysschen posted an official letter on Infiniti's Facebook account confirming that such a model is indeed under development and that it could deliver up to 550 HP.

According to de Nysschen this new sedan could use a potent forced-induction V6 engine with an output of 550 HP. The new model will be placed above the current Infiniti M56->ke269 - set to be named Q70 starting 2014 model year, and taking the company's new naming strategy into account we believe the new model will be called Q80.

Infiniti chief also confirmed that the company's new advanced technology engines under development will be smaller, lighter, more fuel efficient yet more powerful. This might be the explanation why a V6-powered sedan will deliver more than a V8 powered one which delivers only 420 HP.

Expect to learn more about the Infiniti's new flagship sedan in the upcoming future. Stay tuned!
