Rumors are swirling that The Grand Tour may be in trouble and that Amazon may be thinking of axing the show entirely after its third season. The unexpected revelation comes by way of the Daily Mail, which is reporting that the show may not be renewed for a fourth season. No reason was given as to why that is, but a “source” close to the show said that “there is nothing to suggest they are going to do another season. No one has signed anything and employees are wondering where everyone will go once filming wraps.”

Take this rumor with a grain of salt, maybe even just a pinch of it. While it is alarming that somebody would speak out about The Grand Tour like this, it is normal for rumors to pop up and for publications to run away with it. The supposed source itself didn’t explicitly say that the show would be cancelled after the third season. All he said was that there’s “nothing to suggest” that Amazon’s going to do another season. That’s the equivalent of saying that the Cleveland Cavaliers “could win” the NBA title. That’s not a lot to go by, but it is newsworthy to think that The Grand Tour was getting the ax. That’s the world we live in now.

It’s even crazier when you consider that Amazon invested roughly $250 million on the show with the idea that it would serve as one of the backbones of its Amazon Prime streaming network. The Grand Tour has done exactly that, raking in $100 million for Amazon in just two seasons. While the show has had its ups and downs, it’s also been well-received by fans and critics alike, a vast majority of whom took to the Internet upon hearing of the rumor, threatening the company of leaving Amazon Prime if the show was canceled. It’s also worth mentioning that a lot of these same people admitted to subscribing to Amazon Prime specifically because of the show. Amazon’s going to piss a lot of people of if it ends up canceling The Grand Tour.

Not surprisingly, Jeremy Clarkson took to Twitter to call out the rumor, saying it's “Hilarious if you believe Mail Online.” Neither of the two other co-hosts of the show, Richard Hammond or James May, decided to comment, but producer Andy Willman ignored the rumor altogether, opting only to say that the show “is focusing on series three at the moment.”

At the moment, don’t worry about the future of The Grand Tour The show should speed along as it prepares for the third season. Whatever happens after that is a problem for another time. Let the rumor spread and grow for what it is. Chances are, it’s going to fizzle out faster than it takes a Koenigsegg Regera S to hit 60 mph from an idle position.
