As Ford moves away from its line of sedans, it’s instead focusing (perhaps “concentrating” is a more appropriate word) much more heavily on its crossovers and trucks. The Full Story

It recently came to light that after two-and-a-half decades collecting dust, Ford was gearing up to reintroduce the Bronco nameplate.

Now, we might have the early test mules pictured right here. Previously, we speculated the Baby Bronco could be little more than a re-bodied Ford Focus, which would make sense for this tall-riding test mule.

Of course, the final production iteration would look quite a bit different from what we see here, with a much more boxy design compared to the jacked-up Fiesta body seen here. However, the large fenders would remain, mated to a more rugged appearance. LED lighting and other modern touches would help give it a contemporary gloss, while the updated interior would offer decent practicality and comfort, plus the latest infotainment stuff to boot.

We think the Baby Bronco will likely have a similar engine lineup as the Ford EcoSport crossover, with a selection of four-cylinders that could include a 2.5-liter base model, a turbo 1.5-liter, and a range-topping 2.0-liter EcoBoost making 245 horsepower.

Alternatively, the mule pictured might be nothing more than the next-gen Ford EcoSport, rocking wide fender flares, a taller ride height, and a longer body.

We’ll keep you up to date on the latest as we get it.
