Does anyone remember the Jeep Comanche? Yeah, we didn't either. The Comanche was a Jeep pickup that was produced from 1986 to 1992, but ended up being phased out after the Chrysler buyout because of the lack of an extended cab body style and its high price. There was also the Scrambler and the JT Concept, but those didn't work out either. Needless to say, Jeep->ke40 hasn't necessarily had a good run with its pickup trucks, but the brand is going to try it out one more time by building a production model for theGladiator pick-up concept that was brought out in 2005.

We don't know if someone at Jeep was just rummaging through their filing cabinets or if this was a project that was just left on the backburner for five years, but the idea is being reconsidered and dealers have already looked at and approved the design. Jeep CEO, Mike Manley, already created a bit of excitement earlier this week at a dealer meeting in Orlando. As he walked off the stage, he said something like "You never know what may show up in your showroom one day." A few seconds later, the wraps were taken off a Jeep pickup. Subtle.

A production version is expected to be unveiled in the next three years. That is, of course, if Chrysler has the money to build it.
