It was only a week ago I was praising the 2015 Ultima Evolution for its stunning performance figures and for being the only road-going sports car->ke506 to feature a Group C, Le Mans->ke1591-inspired design. Now, alpine skier and multiple medalist Jon Olsson is selling his 2013 Rebellion R2K. What's this car got to do with the Ultima Evolution, you may ask? Quite a lot, as it is based on the Ultima GTR,->ke3233 which was just replaced by the Evolution. And don't let the name change fool you, the Evolution is essentially a mildly updated GTR on the outside, with added modern bits on the inside.

As for the Rebellion, it's definitely the coolest looking and the most celebrated car based on the Ultima GTR. That's because Olsson took its Group C-inspired design up a notch by rebuilding it into a LMP1 prototype-like machine. On top of resembling the Le Mans-winning 2014 Audi R18 e-tron, the R2K, which takes its name from Swiss racing team Rebellion Racing, hides a 600-horsepower, Lamborghini Gallardo->ke375 engine under the hood and tips the scales at only 2,205 pounds. This translates into loads of fun, which Olsson demonstrated on several occasion, including by driving it up a snowy slope in his native Sweden.

Olsson is selling it for €249,000 (about $266,000 as of 04/15/2015) with only 18,020 miles on the odo. The Rebellion R2K is currently located in Marbella, Spain.

Why it matters

Granted, the R2K isn't the kind of car you can thunder around the neighborhood to crack a few windows, but it's a great option if you're looking for a unique racer to spend your weekends at the track in. It's not cheap either, but it's more affordable than a new Ferrari.->ke252 And if you ask me, it's a lot more fun. I'm sure the organizers of the Gumball 3000->ke4396 rally would love to have it back on their grid, no matter who's behind the steering wheel.
