At this point, these Koenigsegg renderings of the Regera have become important events in our weekly automotive calendar. That’s been the case since the calendar flipped to 2017 as we’ve been treated to a weekly dose of renderings from people inside the Swedish supercar maker. Copywriter Steven Wade kicked things off with a Prince-inspired purple Regera before Johan Bjurmar, Koenigsegg’s sales director for continental Europe and Scandinavia, followed suit with his Bordeaux Regera. Then last week, it was art director Lisa Johansson’s turn and she opted for a Raven Black Regera that looked sexy to the hilt. Now it’s the turn of Mattias Vox, the automaker’s Prototype Manager and so-called "vehicle builder extraordinaire" whose interpretation of the mega car involves dressing it up in a classy grey finish with white trim and plenty of clear carbon fiber.

Vox’s treatment isn’t as eye-popping as the Bordeaux Regera nor is it as flamboyant as the purple Regera that was designed to honor the bombastic music icon. But this one is arguably the cleanest and most stylish of the four Regera renderings we’ve seen so far. The choice of colors are ideal complements of one another and the use of the clear carbon fiber further elevates its aesthetic appeal.

Yes, I know that I’ve spent the past four weeks gawking at these renderings and marvelling at the creativity of those who work for the Swedish automaker. Admit it though; they are impossible to ignore, especially with the level of originality that was put in the creation of these renderings. All four so far are as unique as the tastes and preferences of the people behind them.

Now that we’re four renderings into this admittedly awesome exercise, let’s all hope that Koenigsegg keeps this up. It’s going to feel weird waking up on a weekend without going to Koenigsegg’s Facebook page and gawking at the latest Regera rendering to come from its employees.

Why it matters

Okay, so these Koenigsegg renderings are turning into serious business. It was fun the past couple of weeks, but now that we’re four renderings in, we’re slowly getting to a point wherein we start wondering if Koenigsegg itself has any plans for these creations other than them being nothing more than “creative exercises.”

Take Mattias Vox’s interpretation for example. The technical name of the exterior body color is Battleship Grey and while it is just a shade of grey on the surface, the name Vox thought of to describe the shade is the one that gives it personality. I mean, think about it. Battleship Grey sounds a lot cooler than, say, Pewter Grey or Porpoise Grey. Battleship Grey not only sounds cool, it also actually resembles the grey shade that’s traditionally found in the military. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

The really cool thing about Vox’s rendering is that the grey shade is just one part of the exterior’s attractive look. White pinstripes are also featured in the body of the Regera, flanking a clear carbon fiber central stripe. All together, the colors create a tricolour look that looks like it’s ready for military service, even if it’s going to be horribly out of place in any of the armed forces units. On the flip side, you can also make the case that Vox’s colors-of-choice draw some similarities to Johannson’s all-black Regera in the sense that both look a lot like classy suits that would certainly fit into the lifestyle of a man who can afford this multi-million dollar megacar.

The other appealing aspect of Vox’s Regera rendering is the complement of colors inside the 1,500-horsepower beast of epic proportions. For his part, Vox slathered the Regera’s interior with chocolate brown leather with lighter accents throughout the cabin, including diamond-stitched white center seat sections that helps make for a clean-looking interior, the kind that you wouldn’t want to get dirty under any circumstances.

There’s a lot to be said for this particular Koenigsegg Regera. Of the four, this one looks the cleanest and arguably the one that’s going to get a lot of second looks. It’s not flashy in the same way as the Bordeaux Regera and the Purple Regera, but the inspiration behind the use of the color grey for the exterior is a nice and creative way to enhance the character of this particular piece.

Overall, another solid work from another one of Koenigsegg’s employees. At this right, we’re finding it more and more difficult to patiently wait for what next week’s rendering will bring.
