Land Rover teased a picture of a new off-roader yesterday. Although the company hasn’t mentioned the name or any other details, we are guessing it’s the new Defender. The off-roader, in the picture, is seen ramping out of a trailer, covered in zebra camouflage, looking kind of like a Mercedes G-Class. What an early Christmas present this is!

The 2020 Land Rover Defender Looks a Lot Like the G-Class It Will Compete Against

Land Rover has decided not to reveal the Defender until 2019. So, for the holidays, we will have to make merry with this one picture in zebra wraps only. Even though Land Rover is being tight-lipped about it, it wants the SUV to be seen around. The Defender was seen sporting the hashtag #BEST4X4XFAR on its camouflage. In fact, the Defender was seen in crowded places as well, making it obvious that Land Rover is hyping the product as much as possible before the eventual release.

What We Know So Far

The Land Rover Defender was seen in both its avatars – the smaller Defender 90, as well as the bigger 110 variant – in a short span of 24 hours a couple of weeks back. No V-8s will be offered in either of the Defenders, but a hybrid engine could be seen in the future. It will also come with a new independent suspension setup instead of the old-school system. Being billed as an off-roader, it is good to see it getting an independent suspension system, but losing the V-8s will definitely not go down well with the purists.

Our Take

On the bright side, we could see the Defender enter the U.S. markets. Are we going to see the new Defender on the road by the end of 2019? Possibly. Land Rover has done a great job hyping the Defender because we have fallen for it. What do you expect out of the all-new Land Rover Defender? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
