To switch those traffic lights will cost them around €2.3 million, which is about 3.2 million dollars in the US. The good news is that in the long run they will be conserving about 85% of the energy used by the halogen traffic lights that are used right now.

 

Seville is planning on replacing about 22,170 traffic lights, which will decrease the energy drain annually by 3.93 million KWh (800 residential homes).

 

If this is successful, who knows the world just might be following this idea.
