We love all things automotive, especially when we can build it ourselves and display it on a shelf. And that’s why we adore Lego’s various car builder kits, the latest of which is a throwback to the Golden Age of muscle cars. Say hello to the 1967 Ford Mustang, now Lego’d!

The Only Thing Missing From The 1967 Ford Mustang Lego Kit Is The Tire Smoke

Plucked straight from the late ‘60s, this Ford Mustang Fastback Lego kit is hugely detailed thanks to a total 1,470 pieces in the kit. It’s big too, measuring in at nearly four inches in height, 13.4 inches in length, and five-and-a-half inches in width.

The body is finished in dark blue, plus it comes with the requisite white racing stripes. In front is a hood scoop and Mustang badge for the grille. Five-spoke wheels wrapped with sticky tires are mounted in the corners, while a number of GT emblems are added here and there. You can also lift up the rear axle for a raked, race-ready appearance, if desired.

Adding to the fun factor is an articulating trunk lid, which reveals a space big enough to put things in. Or you can pop the hood to view the 390 big block V-8 underneath, which comes complete with a battery, hoses, and air filter.

When it first hit the streets in real life, the Mustang’s 390 created upwards of 335 horsepower.

Moving to the interior, you can either open the doors or remove the roof to check out all the details inside, which includes the Mustang’s classic seats, a radio, a steering wheel (complete with a working steering system), and a gear shift.

What’s more, Lego also says the ‘Stang can be “customized with additional muscle car components,” with optional add-ons like a supercharger, a ducktail spoiler, big exhaust pipes, a front spoiler, and even a tank of nitrous, plus a number of optional license plates as well.

The new 1967 Ford Mustang Lego kit will go on sale globally March 1st. Get it in certified Lego Stores or online at shop.lego.com/fordmustang. Pricing is set at $150 here in the States, 120 pounds in the U.K., or 130 euros in Germany.

Yet Another Awesome Automotive-Themed Lego Kit!

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen some rather tempting car-builder kits from Lego.

Previously, we’ve seen Lego offer a modern sixth-generation Ford Mustang and a Ford F-150 Raptor, as well as a hugely detailed Porsche 911 GT3 RSR through the Lego Technic series. Then of course there’s the 2019 Speed Champions lineup, which includes standouts like a McLaren Senna and 720S, 1967 Mini Cooper S Rally and 2018 Mini John Cooper Works Buggy, 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, and Ferrari F40 Competizione.

Pretty awesome stuff, but we’re most impressed by the full-scale Lego Bugatti Chiron, which mimics the real thing down to the smallest of details. It even drives!

All told, more Lego is more better as far as we’re concerned. You won’t get any busted knuckles when putting this thing together, and the significant other won’t kick you out of the house if you bring it home either. Sounds like a win-win.
