The Lexus RC F Coupe is one of the hottest new models to hit the market and its popularity is continuing to grow. But now, Motoring Australia is reporting that an even hotter version of the RC F Coupe is on its way.

The auto news outlet recently had a conversation with Lexus chief engineer Yukihiro Yaguchi and the Japanese engineer divulged details on the possibility of an improved version of the RC F that will debut in 2015. Granted, he didn’t explicitly say that an improved RC F would translate to a more powerful RC->ke4751 F Coupe. That would be getting too ahead of ourselves. Instead, the model will likely be geared towards making it more “enjoyable to drive”.

That’s a nice way of putting it, but everyone knows that the RC F is a performance model first and foremost. It wouldn’t be enough to say that an improved new RC F would just be “more enjoyable” than the one that’s already on the market. Remember, the RC F already packs a 5.0-liter V-8 that pumps out 467 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque. That’s good enough to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and up to 168 mph. If Lexus really wants to make a statement, a 500-horsepower RC F Coupe would be the way to do it.

Fortunately, Yaguchi didn’t close the door on that potentially happening, telling Motoring that more power could be extracted from the V-8 without necessarily going the route of forced induction. The question now is if Lexus->ke47 is planning to do that.

Yaguchi says Lexus is already thinking about it. Hopefully, Lexus moves past the thinking stage into the doing stage sooner than later.

Why it matters

The important thing to establish here is that the Lexus RC F Coupe is an incredible car. It looks like a champ and has the performance capabilities to match. So when there are talks of a potentially more powerful RC F in the pipeline, we certainly take notice.

I personally think it's going to happen even though I have no inside information on that. It's a gut feeling that I feel really strongly about. The RC F isn't the LF-A->ke2181 wherein Lexus was always handcuffed on production cost of each and every unit.

But with the RC F, there's plenty of room to play around, especially if cars like the BMW 4 Series and the Mercedes C-Class continue to evolve.

Lexus RC F

The 2015 Lexus RC F made one heck of a splash at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show, announcing itself with an aura of confidence that likely made Mercedes, BMW, and Audi quiver in fear. There are no confirmed reports of those things ever happening, but I like to think that it did in some way, shape or form.

That’s the kind of reaction the RC F evokes. It looks like a true sports car and has the performance credentials to back it up. The car’s front end looks like it means business and on top of that, it’s got a workhorse of a V-8 under its hood, ready to be unleashed at any moment’s notice. The RC F has 467 horsepower and around 389 pound-feet of torque to tap into, allowing it to hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds to go with a top speed of 168 mph.

The Lexus RC F comes with a sticker price that starts at $63,325.
