Some cars’ warning tones for leaving a door ajar, the headlights on, or low fuel can be downright annoying and sometimes startling. I know the low fuel warning in my mid-2000's Ford gives me chills when I’m not expecting to hear it, and it’s a problem shared with newer Fords whose chimes can be quite annoying. But for its premium Lincoln brand, the Blue Oval has chosen to record actual musicians playing actual instruments and the result is a much better and more soothing one.

A Conductor With Keys In Hand

Lincoln recently released videos showing how they recorded some of the chimes for the upcoming Aviator SUV and let us tell you they are so much better than anything we’ve heard in any Ford. The sounds will be used for a total of 25 different features.

Other manufacturers have expensive sounding warning chimes, but Lincoln may have elevate itself to the top of that list with these Aviator tones. Reviewers will definitely be pointing these out once the Aviator is launched and they get their hands on it - the likes of Doug DeMuro will have a field day illustrating them all.

The three-row Aviator has so far only been shown in close-to-production concept form, but the automaker says the series model will be nearly identical to the study shown at the New York Auto Show. Lincoln says the Aviator will slot under the Navigator in the manufacturer’s roster of SUVs and will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a premium interior which we are assured will be as good as the best in the industry.
