If you didn't have the chance to buy one of the 2,700 1-Series M Coupe units that were built, you will be happy to know that BMW has decided to offer a successor for the new compact sports coupe. The announcement was made by M division CEO, Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, himself in an interview with BMW Blog.

He said that the "M Performance" lineup is a new category of models for BMW and the company plans to expand it. The current M135i - offered as a successor for the 1M Coupe - is currently a very successful model, even if it is not really a pure M car.

Nitschke said in the interview: "We haven’t made a decision yet, but the 1M coupe was so successful, that in my opinion, I am absolutely sure we will build a successor."

He offered no other details on the upcoming successor, but we are hoping for something delivering at least the same performance figures at the 1M Coupe: 335 horsepower, a sprint from 0 to 60 mph made in 4.7 seconds and a top speed limited to 155 mph.
