The Mazda RX-7 will be based on the Taiki concept unveiled this year at the Tokyo Motor Show. The replacement for the model produced until 1996 in Europe and 2003 in Japan will be unveiled within two or three years.

The new RX-7 will be the first Mazda to benefit from the new exterior design theme that it has developed through a series of four concept cars (Nagare, Ryuga, Hakaze and Taiki) inspired by the idea of ‘flow’.

The RX-7 will be powered by a rotary-engined that will feature direct injection and turbocharged. The output will be around 250 hp. The RX-7 will provide a smaller, lighter and more overtly sporty alternative to the new RX-8.
