McLaren P1 GT by Lanzante Makes Brief Appearance at Goodwood

Following in the footsteps of the legendary F1

Early last week, Lanzante teased us with a silhouette image of its wild new take on McLaren’s finest. You know, as if the standard P1 GTR wasn’t crazy enough. Now, we’re finally getting an eye-full of the bespoke speed machine, as revealed in a series of photos posted to Lanzante’s Instagram account. Infused with go-faster, motorsport-inspired goodness, it’s called the McLaren P1 GT, and it’s an impressive thing to behold.

The Full Story

McLaren has been all over the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year.

For starters, the company laid out its seven-year plan to grow its business, build 18 new models, double down on hybrid tech, and offer up a successor to the vaunted P1 hypercar.

Additionally, the brand revealed the badass new 600LT.

However, there was something else with a McLaren badge that caused quite a stir in West Sussex - the McLaren P1 GT by Lanzante.

Basically, this thing is a customized iteration of the P1 GTR, and it was conceived and built by Lanzante Limited, a British company that specializes in this sort of thing. The P1 GT takes after the F1 GT Longtail from the late ‘90s, the road-legal F1 GTR, and it’s essentially a tuned and tweaked version of McLaren’s modern electron-boosted spaceship. Amazingly, it also somehow retained its road-legal status.

Let’s start outside, where the car gets more stick thanks to a huge fixed rear wing (as opposed to the smaller adaptive piece on the standard P1) and a longer tail section. In front, there’s a bigger splitter, while a new rear diffuser and vents on the fenders make it even more aggressive-looking. A quad set of exhaust tips were added to the longer tail section.

The whole thing comes slathered in a shade dubbed XP Green, which just so happens to be the same color used on the F1 GT Longtail way back when.

The color scheme is repeated in the interior, where a green and tan cabin space comes complete with leather-clad racing buckets. The infotainment gear is also retained.

Unfortunately, the powerplant details remain under wraps, but we hear Lanzante gave the twin-turbo’d plug-in hybrid 3.8-liter V-8 some extra go juice, possibly with revamped breathing and a tuned ECU. As a reminder, the standard P1 lays down 903 horsepower, while the standard P1 GTR makes 986 horsepower, so if Lanzante did dig into the guts, this one should be producing a number very close to four figures.

It’s possible Lanzante gave it a little weight reduction as well, which, paired with the extra muscle and upgraded aero, should make for one helluva ride.

Either way, we think the McLaren P1 GT by Lanzante looks amazing. Well done!
