The Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille event first kicked off three years ago with the mission of bringing the elegance of the 1920s to the present, pairing auto manufacturers with fashion houses to showcase the future of automotive culture. This year, the event is being held on September 4th and promises to be even better than ever. As such, you better believe that McLaren is going to be there, and this year it returns with the McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept.

The 570GT by MSO Concept was designed by McLaren Special Operations as the first bespoke example of the 570GT, showcasing a number of special features that will be available on the model. As a less track-focused version of the 570S, the 570GT still has McLarens iconic 3.8-liter V-8 that pumps out 562 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The 570GT by MSO Concept comes complete with a new Electro-Chromic roof that allows for user-adjustable tints, Saddle Tan upholstery inside to go with a 12-speaker Bowers and Wilkins Hi-Fi audio system. Paired with the standard features found in the standard 570GT, this MSO Concept is literally the most luxurious McLaren ever built.

For the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille event this year, McLaren is paired up with avant-garde fashion house Jean-Paul Gaultier to take part in a Concept-Cars parade where the 570GT by MSO will be showcased. While everyone was hoping McLaren would up the Ante a little bit for this year, it has actually done very little. In fact, the only change is that the exterior is now finished in Pacific Blue. The gloss black front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, and door inserts all carry over from the original concept giving the car a dark, but two-tone appearance.

Why it Matters

It’s cool that McLaren is showing up to Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille this year, but I was really hoping to see more out of the company than a new exterior finish on an already-revealed concept. The concept itself is great, but in all reality, giving an old concept a new exterior finish and boasting it like it’s a big deal is just a little lazy. Why not throw in some new accessories or something more than a solid exterior finish? Either way, even with nothing more than some Pacific Blue paint added to the concept, it should still receive more than enough attention at the Concept-Car parade this weekend.
