Contrary to reports that have been making their way around the Web the past couple of days, McLaren->ke284 has made it unfailingly clear that they will not be building anything that doesn't fall under the "two seats, mid-engine" platform that it has always used in the past.

Reports began circulating that after McLaren placed a huge order to purchase carbon monocoques, a new range of cars would be developed to complement the MP4-12C->ke3514, and all subsequent two-seaters, in the future. Apparently, according to Mark Harrison, McLaren's PR chief, those reports are neither true nor are they accurate.

In a text message sent to Inside Line, Harrison made it clear that McLaren has no intention of building a 2+2, saying that "we are only planning 'pure' high performance sports cars -- two seats, mid-engine."

There you have it, fellas. No 2+2's in the pipeline for McLaren. At least not anytime soon.
