The Goodwood Festival of Speed is always a surefire venue for top-end performance cars, and given its position as an internationally recognized hotbed for all things fast and four-wheeled, it’s also a great spot to debut something new to the world. Lanzante Limited is well aware of this, and as such, the British automotive company is gearing up for the release of a new face-melting iteration of the P1 hybrid hypercar.

The Full Story

This most recent evolution of the P1 was just hyped in a teaser image posted to social media, with a shadowy silhouette set against an all-black background.

So far, not much is known about the new P1 GT, other than it should take after the iconic F1 GT, McLaren’s road-worthy version of the F1 GTR, and the fact it’s got some serious performance pedigree under the skin.

The shape of the thing is very much in line with the Woking brand’s Longtail racing machine, with a prototype-inspired shape and aero package. The list of upgrades should include a larger roof-mounted intake, extra vents on wider fenders, and even more aggression in the downforce department front to back. Of course, the tail section will also extend out quite a bit.

Power levels should be close to or even above the four-figure mark. As a reminder, the standard P1 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-8 with electric assistance. Combined output on the standard car is rated at 903 horsepower and 723 pound-feet of torque, all of which reaches the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The sprint to 62 mph takes just 2.8 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited at 217 mph, both of which are figures that should see a boost in the P1 GT.

Taking responsibility for the build is Lanzante Limited, a U.K.-based company that specializes in servicing, restoring, and building high-end automobiles. Lanzante is the same company that developed the P1 LM, a road-legal variant of the P1 GTR, so you just know this thing is gonna be good.

Look for the new McLaren P1 GT to arrive this Friday, as the Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off on Thursday, July 12th, and runs through Sunday the 15th.
