McRae has confirmed this morning that the team behind the Enduro cross-country rally car is working on a 240bhp road-going version of the Enduro. The new model will be called Super Sports Utility Vehicle, or SSUV and will be priced around 150.000 euro.

The SSUV will use the same tubular steel body construction as the Enduro, and many of the same mechanicals. It’ll have a two-plus-two cabin seating format and full time four-wheel drive. Once a production partner has been found and a deal set up, the McRaes hope to build them in volume, mostly for export to developing markets and to the Middle East, where dirt roads are more common.

The SSUV will be offered in both petrol and diesel version; diesel being first to be offered. In both version the car will develop 350 hp and 550lb ft or torque, and will have a kerbweight of around 1550kg.

A prototype version is expected within a year.
