PARIS — Renault has launched a special-edition version of its new Mégane Renaultsport 225 to celebrate its double Formula One Championship wins last season.

The Mégane Renaultsport 225 Renault F1 Team, developed in honor of Renault's triumph in the 2005 F1 Constructors' title and Fernando Alonso's capture of the drivers' title, is essentially a "loaded" version of the 225 Cup model. It comes in one color, traditional French racing blue.

Extra features include 60-watt CD/MP3 RDS radio, climate control, new "black gloss" 18-inch spoked lightweight alloys with matching door mirrors, blue/black Recaro front sport seats, and blue detailing on the steering wheel and gearshift gaiter.

The distinctive paintwork is enhanced with unique Renault F1 Team decals and badging on the front wings and front and rear fenders. Inside, there's a numbered plaque at the base of the center console, although the production level is not limited to a specific number.

Renault has recently face-lifted its strong-selling Mégane, giving it restyled headlamps and front grille and fender, plus new rear light clusters and back fender, together with subtle interior upgrades to the materials and finish.
