The G65 Final Edition will feature 21-inch alloys finished in matte bronze with silver brake calipers. The mirrors, bumpers, and spare-tire cover get the bronze treatment as well. The running board and exhaust get matte black elements, tying the whole package together.

On the inside, Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition comes packed with Carbon-fiber bits all around the cabin. Floor mats and grab handles feature the words "Final Edition" on them. The brown stitching complements the black Nappa leather upholstery well.

Under the hood is the famous, 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces a mammoth 621 horsepower. This astonishing figure is enough to pull this 6000-pound beast from standstill to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds! It is mated to an AMG 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission.

30 of these units will be available for the US market, and Mercedes will carefully handpick the dealers to whom the G65's will be allotted. The order book will open soon, and the car is priced at an "affordable" $252,690. The car will be manufactured at Mercedes' plant in Graz, Austria.

Author's Take

The Mercedes AMG G65 Final Edition marks the end of an era. The G-class has been the company's longest-running production car, spanning a life of almost 40 years. The G65 Special Edition has been priced at a premium of $29,000 over its standard counterpart. Although the G65 is being laid to rest, an all-new camouflaged Mercedes G-wagon had been spotted last year. It is just a matter of time that the heavily re-worked model hits the floor, thus resurrecting the legend.

Given the enviable clientele of G-series, it is not "how" the car will be sold with sky-high price, but "how quick" all 65 units hit the road.
