Mercedes-Benz finally showed the AMG A35 in the metal at the Paris Motor Show. Even though the car made an online debut a couple of weeks back, this is the first time we've seen it in its physical form. People have been waiting on the ropes for this car to arrive after the A-Class hatchback was launched a few months ago and it was well worth the wait.

The Car Is A Looker Without Any Doubt

Unlike what Skoda did with the Kodiaq and the Kodiaq RS, Mercedes made sure that the extra power under the hood was prominently visible even on the outside. The five-door hatch’s aggressive front includes a lot of splitters, the black grille with the shiny logo on it, and the intimidating daytime running light. The hot hatch rides on sexy gun-metal finished, high-spoke alloys, and the rear has a huge, black wing that, in my opinion, looks a little out of place. The blue paint job with grey accents looks classy.

Under The Hood

The Mercedes-AMG A35 comes powered by a 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine that generates 302 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to all the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. From a standstill, the AMG A35 can sprint to 62 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds, before topping out at 155 mph.

Similar, But Functional Cabin

In contrast, you’ll be welcomed to a familiar-looking cabin. The A35 features all the same tech that you will see on the standard A-Class. The A35 also gets a number of drive modes, including Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, and Slippery. The new MBUX infotainment system is seen here, replacing the previous COMAND setup.

Our Take

All-in-all, the Mercedes-AMG A35 is here to give the other hot hatches a run for their money. It looks very capable, and the only way Mercedes can now screw it up is by pricing its exorbitantly high. Did the hatchback live up to your expectations? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
