A Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG that’s finished in Alubeam silver is available in America. Buying one, though, requires a measure of patience. Lots of it.

According to Autoblog, Mercedes->ke187 is indeed coming out with the popular color finish that first made its appearance on the 40th anniversary of the CL65 AMG a couple of years ago. The exclusivity of the Alubeam silver colorway comes from the fact that, unlike any other color finish, this particular one is hand-painted at Mercedes’ Sindelfingen factory, making production a labor-intensive endeavor. As such, Mercedes only produces about 2-3 models of the special edition color finish per week.

Despite the wait, we’re confident that fans of the Alubeam silver finish are more than a little excited about the prospect of seeing it come with an SLS AMG. Just when we thought this car couldn't get any hotter, here comes another wrinkle to Mercedes’ new supercar that will make it all the more attractive.
