According to GM’s Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, it appears that the new Chevrolet Camaro has great chances to get also the engine from the tuned versions of the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. The 2.0 liter turbo engine will feature the European version of the car and will be able to deliver 260 hp. This engine will help the new muscle car to be eco-friendly reducing CO2 emissions to just 17mpg in town and 25mpg on the highway.

Comparing it to the Ford Mustang GT and Nissan 350Z, the new Camaro powered by the 2.0 liter engine will simply be humiliated due to their engine capable of delivering 300 hp. Of course these cars will not have a chance in front of the V8-powered model but now we put ourselves the question: Would someone buy a 2.0 liter Camaro to be humiliated by a Nissan 350Z? Tough question...

“Millions of people of all ages fell in love with the Camaro for all of the right reasons. Camaros were beautiful to look at and offered performance that could rival expensive European GTs. Yet they were practical enough to drive every day and priced within the reach of many new car buyers.” said Ed Welburn, GM Vice President, Global Design. If we listen to these words we can understand that the new Camaro will easily find its customers between its fans but the European success is still questioned.
