Mini will launch a new larger model sometime in 2015; a model that could use Fiat's new C-Evo platform. The first model that will use this platform will be Alfa's replacement for the 147. The platform will be able to underpin for front- and all-wheel-drive cars.

BMW could also use Fiat parts or even Fiat's future B-platform for the third-generation Mini, which is due in 2012 or 2013. Fiat will first use the new B-platform for the Grande Punto successor, planned for 2011. The Alfa Romeo MiTo successor will switch to the platform in 2013 or 2014.

Fiat can also supply a new family of gasoline and diesel engines that the company is working on to launch in for 2011 or 2012. The engine family includes 1.6-liter, four-cylinder and 1.2-liter, three-cylinder variants, designed for front-wheel drive applications.

On the other hand selected Mini dealers in the United States are adding a franchise contract for Alfa Romeo. Alfa plans to return to the U.S. in 2010. The Italian brand stopped selling cars in the U.S. in 1995.
