Among the premieres that Nissan->ke62 has announced for the upcoming 2015 Chicago Auto Show, one stands out more than the others for a simple reason: the mystery surrounding it. Declining to elaborate, Nissan simply revealed that a new Nismo street concept vehicle will be on stage at the show, along with the bonkers-looking, FWD Nismo GT-R LM prototype, a 370Z Nismo, Juke->ke3600 Nismo, and Juke Nismo RS, the 600-horsepower GT-R Nismo and the Sentra Nismo Concept.
It's set to debut February 12, and I can only speculate on the nature of the so-called "street concept," but considering that models like the IDx Freeflow and IDx Nismo were a smash hit at just about every event they have been shown at since 2013, maybe a variation of one of them could be in order. Still, that would be a bit peculiar since recent reports suggest that production versions of the two are less than likely in the near future, meaning that another similar concept would only infuriate some fans.
On the other hand, since the Sentra Nismo Concept was originally built to test the waters on whether such a version could actually be well-received by Nissan customers, maybe a Note Versa Nismo concept would be on the way. Not to mention the fact that such a version already exists in the Nissan lineup for the Japanese market.

Why it matters
There is no way to definitely tell what concept car Nissan will bring at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Some would say that the Japanese carmaker is probably trying to overdose attendees on Nismo vehicles, but one thing is certain: If the mysterious concept will share the stage with the revolutionary GT-R LM prototype, then in theory it should be something quite big and with some connection to a future road-going model. Either that, or it will simply be a car so futuristic and out there that it will stand no chance to enter production any time soon, such as a future GT-R preview. I'm betting on the latter, despite the fact that the Nismo lineup has been continuously expanded in the last couple of years and something like a Nismo variant of an existing model is also possible/probable.
