The 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show is just a little over a month away now, and the early debuts are already starting to trickle in. One of the first out the gates comes from Nissan, which just debuted its latest Maxima four-door. Details on the updated flagship sedan are still forthcoming, but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate a little bit…

What Will It Look Like?

Most noticeable is the new front end, which looks to incorporate sharp headlight housings pulled into the fenders and equipped with LED lighting accents. Between the lights, Nissan’s characteristic Vmotion grille is in full effect, while a new lower bumper treatment adds extra crispness.

We have yet to see the tail, but we’re expecting a similar upgrade back there as well, including new taillight housings taken after the latest Altima. A set of quad exhaust tips in the rear will finish it off, while the corners will get a range of new designs to boot.

Finally, look for a fresh interior treatment that takes cues from the latest model year of the Nissan Altima.

What About The Tech Stuff?

As such, it’ll come with “six advanced safety and driver-assist technologies.” Nissan declined to give exact details on what these technologies were exactly, but if we were to guess, it likely tosses in standards like automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and the like.

What’s Under The Hood?

That means it’ll once again utilize a front-mounted 3.5-liter V-6 routing power to the front wheels by way of a continuously variable transmission. It’s also possible Nissan will decide to offer the option for an AWD drivetrain, which would help immensely in terms of perceived sporting intentions.

When Should We Expect Full Details?

Nissan says the 2019 Maxima will hit dealers sometime in December. Look for our complete coverage at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show at the end of November.
