The 2018 Beijing Auto Show is shaping up to be a showcase of electric cars. Buick’s bringing an electric concept, and now we’ve gotten word that Nissan is doing the same. But, the Japanese automaker isn’t just bringing one electric car; it’s bringing three of them, including a new electric concept that will share the stage with the Nissan Leaf and Nissan iMx KURO electric crossover concept.

We already know about the Nissan Leaf because it’s been around for a while now. We also know about the Nissan iMx KURO electric crossover concept because it already debuted at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. It wasn’t the best concept Nissan has shown in recent years, but it did accomplish its goal of previewing a future electric crossover. It’s unclear if this new electric concept will follow along with the same path as the iMx KURO, but considering its billing as a concept, it wouldn’t be surprising if the model doesn’t fall too far away from the KURO tree.

About the only thing we know at this point is that the model will be presented exclusively in the Chinese market. That’s a clear sign that Nissan developed this concept for the purpose of seeing if it’s going to go over well in China. In addition, the concept could also serve as a preview of future models that Nissan plans to develop as part of its M.O.V.E. to 2022 midterm plan, together with partner Dongfeng Motor Co. Ltd and its own TRIPLE ONE plan.

The secrecy of the concept opens up plenty of speculation on what it could be. the likely scenario is that it’s another all-electric crossover concept or maybe even an SUV concept. If it’s neither of the two, the smart money would be on an all-electric luxury sedan concept. Outside of crossovers and SUVs, premium sedans are some of the most sought-after models in China. It would make sense for Nissan to showcase a concept like that in China with the explicit goal of seeing how Chinese consumers react to it.

If it’s not a crossover, SUV, or sedan, then it’s anybody’s guess what it could be. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to find out. The Beijing Auto Show opens its doors on April 25, 2018. We should know more about the concept once Nissan pulls the covers off of it.
