Now that Pagani->ke66 has successfully sold all 100 examples of its Huayra->ke3763 supercar,->ke177 the next item on the company’s to-do list is the Huayra Roadster. But according to new reports, that won’t happen until after a small run of Huayra Special Edition models. Called Huayra SE for short, the new variant will be a more track-biased take on the Huayra, and only 20 examples will be built.

According to Autogespot, the Huayra SE will come with a detachable body kit that can be fitted when its time to hit the circuit and removed when your ready to drive home. The body kit is expected to consist of a more-pronounced front splitter and a sizable rear wing, both of which will increase downforce significantly. What isn’t known is how these aero add-ons will be stowed. The Huayra isn’t exactly known for its cargo space, so it’s likely you’ll have to convince your friend to carry your carbon-fiber aero pieces for you in his pickup truck.

The Huayra SE is expected to retain the same Mercedes-AMG-sourced->ke8 twin-turbo 6.0-liter V-12, which could produce up to 750 horsepower. The rest of the car is expected to remain unchanged for the most part, but we would expect the SE to be a bit lighter than the normal Huayra and have a few exterior changes to differentiate itself. It will be fast and very exclusive, but don’t expect anything as extreme as the track-only Zonda R.

Expect the Huarya SE to get an official debut in early 2016. Sales should begin soon after, with each costing a staggering $2.8 million. According to World Car Fans, at least one prospective Huayra buyer canceled his order after learning the SE was on the way.

Why it matters

As we recently reported, Pagani is in the process of moving into a larger facility that will allow production to increase to between 200 and 300 cars per year. Pagani expects the new factory to go online in September of 2015, which is probably around the time Huayra production will be wrapping up. Despite the increased production capacity, don’t expect the Huayra SE and Huayra Roadster to be built concurrently. Pagani has said it will cap production at around 45 units per year to maintain exclusivity, but don’t expect this to be the case for the Huayra’s replacement.
