First introduced in the mid ‘60s, the BMW 02 Series was a compact, three-box sedan that blessed the Bavarians with the sporty, driver’s brand perception it enjoys today. As the forerunner to the perennial 3 Series, the 02 Series mixed small dimensions, tossable handling characteristics, and by the ‘70s, decent power output as well, making it a favorite among enthusiasts. These days, you can find the 2002 drawing attention at car shows and historic racing events across the country, and sometimes, you run across some real gems. Take for example the 2002 featured in this video from Petrolicious.

Dubbed “Tesoro” by its owner, Bay Area resident Lisa, this classic two-door has all kinds of lovely little details. “Tesoro in Latin means sweetheart, or treasure, and I felt like with all the different, unique items that are on Tesoro, like the Hirschmann antenna, the Neue Klasse steering wheel with the old BMW lettering on it, the different parts I’ve sourced and have customized, I felt like this was my treasure.”

All told, this machine is definitely a looker, and absolutely worthy of the name given it. It’s clean and tasteful down to the smallest of details, and certainly a fine example of one of BMW’s most-famous models.
