Pininfarina has been around for 90 years, and in all that time, it has never built its own car. It’s built concepts, and it’s collaborated with other automakers. But a car that’s 100 percent Pininfarina? That’s never happened. That, of course, is about to change next year. Pininfarina will launch its first-ever production vehicle, and as far as firsts go, it’s a doozy. It’s called the Pininfarina PF0, and it’s a 1,900-horsepower electric hypercar that’s looking to snatch your soul.

What Do We Know About the Pininfarina PF0

Truth be told, we already know a few details about the Pininfarina PF0. We know that only 150 units of the PF0 will be built and that allocation for all 150 units will see it evenly divided at 50 units apiece for the American, European, and Asian markets. We also know that it’s capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds and it boasts a sickening top speed of 250 mph.

As it turns out, we’re only scratching the surface of the Pininfarina PF0’s otherworldliness. You know how the Pininfarina can claim those performance times for the PF0? A lot of it has to do with a quad-motor, all-electric setup the automaker is sourcing from Rimac. That powertrain configuration is capable of producing an unbelievable 1,900 horsepower and 1,700 pound-feet of torque. I know automakers are prone to hyperbole when talking up their powerful exotics, but 1,900 horsepower? 1,700 pound-feet of torque? That’s a power that can (probably) melt roads.

Automobili Pininfarina is treating the PF0 as a destroyer-of-worlds performance monster, and yet, the economy-inclined will still be happy to know that even with all that power, the PF0 has a range that can last 300 miles. It’s getting equipped with Level 3 autonomous driving hardware, too, though not for the reasons that you might think. According to Automobili Pininfarina boss Michael Perschke, autonomous technology is there simply as “added value to the customer.”

Even if the details haven’t been all fleshed out, it’s safe to say that the Pininfarina PF0 isn’t your typical high-priced exotic. Design chief Luca Borgogno attributed to the PF0’s style as ‘Pura,’ or expression of purity in design, beauty, and rarity. Flowery words, sure, but the latest teaser photos of the PF0 have done nothing to displace our beliefs that the PF0 is going to be a stunning work of art. We’ve already seen the single light strip on the front of the car. That’s a modern-day nod to the 1965 Dino Berlinetta Speciale. There’s also a sleekness to the PF0’s body that’s hard to ignore. Barging notes, too, that the PF0’s silhouette is essentially expressed in a pair of basic lines that help maintain its elegance without chipping away at its sporty profile. Coming from the man who penned the rebooted Lancia Stratos, we’ll take Borgogna’s word for it.

It’s unclear how much the PF0’s going to cost, but you better believe that it’s going to cost you more than your appendages. Even if you do decide an arm or two, acquiring one isn’t going to be easy. Of the 150 units that are planned, more than half are already accounted for, including more than 25 units each in the European and Asian markets. Best be prepared to shell out for this piece of art because if you hesitate even for a second, the supply could dry up that quickly. Then again, this isn’t any other car we’re talking about. This isn’t even your “typical” high-priced, all-electric supercar. This is the Pininfarina PF0, a car that’s literally 90 years in the making.
