Every year, Pininfarina makes it a point to turn some heads at the Geneva Motor Show. 2018 will be no different as the iconic Italian design house will bring the HK GT to the big dance. The electric four-seater sports car is described as an “elegant and eco-sustainable Gran Turismo.” We don’t know too much about the eco-sustainable part, but judging by a new teaser image that was released recently, the HK GT looks like it is as elegant as Pininfarina claims it is.

We’ve come to expect nothing but the best from Pininfarina, and time and again, the company has delivered. The Mahindra-owned outfit is giving us a treat with the HK GT. We know very little about what it’s capable of doing, but from a purely aesthetic standpoint, the fastback coupé looks every bit like a Pininfarina creation. It’s hard to make out the front section of the car, but from the side, we can see a long hood that dives down to create a pointy and aggressive nose. The lip spoiler and the stretched headlights can be seen from the sides, the latter of which appears to extend close to the wheels. The coupe-like sloping roofline drops elegantly to the rear section, creating that fastback look that has become a go-to profile among a lot of today’s sports cars. A separate teaser reveals shadowy hints of sexy body lines, but the real pièces de résistance of the teaser are the massive roof-hinged gullwing doors that allow access to the front and rear of the car.

Overall, the HK GT looks like another Pininfarina masterpiece. It is worth mentioning, though, that the electric sports car wasn’t just the work of Pininfarina. Hong Kong-based firm Hybrid Kinetic Group also had a hand in developing it, presumably with the car’s electric propulsion system. It’s unclear yet if we can expect a production future for the HK GT, but recent history points in that direction.

For those who don’t remember, some of Pininfarina’s recent Geneva offerings eventually became limited-run models. A few notable examples include the Pininfarina Sergio, which turned into six production models, all of which were built by Ferrari for specific customers. There were also talks of producing the H2 Speed Concept, though there have been no recent updates in that regard. If the HK GT ends up being as good as advertised, cross your fingers that Pininfarina, with the blessing of Mahindra, decides to build production versions.
