Pininfarina, the legendary Italian design house that created a slew of breathtaking vehicles for Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati, among others, has been rather busy lately creating the next generation of highly desirable sports cars. The firm branched off as Automobili Pininfarina back in April, rebranding itself into a futuristic, forward-thinking mobility company, creating models like the Pininfarina HK GT concept in the process. Now, Automobili Pininfarina is teasing a forthcoming all-electric hyperspeed-maker called the PF0, and so far, it’s shaping up to be quite the machine.

The Full Story

“Automobili Pininfarina is a pioneering new business created to service the most discerning clients in the world,” said Michael Perschke, former Audi executive and current CEO at Automobili Pininfarina. “Our product portfolio will launch with an innovative zero-emissions hypercar that represents the progression we aim to make at the pinnacle of the luxury and sports car market.”

The hypercar in question will carry the codename PF0, and it will be the first in a range of “extremely luxurious and high-performance EV cars” from the company.

Official details are still forthcoming, but the PF0’s overall shape was revealed in a series of teaser images.

Automobili Pininfarina is expected to followup the PF0 with a range of slightly less expensive, yet still very high-end, low-volume production vehicles, including a few SUVs.

Other Automobili Pininfarina creations thus far include the H2 Speed, a hydrogen-powered speed machine built specifically for track duty.

In case you haven’t noticed already, Automobili Pininfarina seeks to be “the most sustainable luxury automotive business in the world,” according to Perschke.

So then - how about some specifics on this “ultra-low volume, ultra-luxurious fully-electric hypercar”?

Apparently, Automobili Pininfarina tapped the Mahindra Racing Formula E team for technical collaboration. Rumor has it the PF0 will run on four electric motors, one per corner, with 2,000 horsepower split between them. Performance is expected to include a sub-2-second 0-to-60 mph time and a top speed over 250 mph, plus 300 miles per charge if you lay off the go pedal.

Just 100 examples will be created, and prices are rumored to slot in at around $2.5 million.

Automobili Pininfarina says delivery will commence in less than two years, while the PF0’s first big public debut will take place during next month’s Monterey Car Week festivities.
