We are all familiar with flying objects on expressway drives; but that involves bugs, birds, or sometimes, pieces of paper. This poor lady, however, saw a trash can approaching her car at warp speed and we got to say, it gave us a mild heart attack just watching it.

Thank God It Was Nothing Heavier

The video below was recorded on a dashcam at the Interstate 635 in Dallas, Texas. You can hear the driver singing to Rhinestone Cowboy, enjoying her drive on a beautiful morning only to see a trashcan fly from out of nowhere and hit her windshield. The lady was cruising along at 77 miles per hour on the express lane and suddenly saw a trash can. Before she could even realize what was happening, the can hit her windshield and cracked it. Luckily, it didn’t pierce through, like this chunk of concrete, which would have been catastrophic.

The Cargo Also Has a Mind of Its Own

If you see the video carefully, you can see that the trashcan took flight from the open trailer of a pickup on the right-hand side. We are assuming that the can was tied, but it looks like the driver didn’t do a good job at tying it tight. Was he scared he’ll suffocate it? This is one instance that has come to light. However, we are quite sure such things happen more often than we think. The open air gives the stuff a sense of freedom, and they won’t think twice before going rogue. This time, fortunately, it was just a plastic trash can; what if you’re carrying something heavier? Buckle up them goods and make the highways a safe place for other travelers.
