The Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport is officially confirmed for production. The new sports car will make its public debut in just a month, during the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show,->ke211 and it should put the current Cayman GT4 into the shadows.

However, don’t forget that the Porsche Cayman GT4 is a “driver’s car” and it is capable of some pretty amazing performance, while having an aggressive appearance and some internals borrowed from its larger brother, the 911->ke282. Some enthusiasts went as far as to say that this will cannibalize the 911,->ke282 but true connoisseurs aren’t worried at all.

But enough with the Porsche->ke1 Cayman GT4. This article isn’t about it anymore, but about the Cayman GT4 Clubsport. It may wear a similar name, but it will be such a different ride, and it will be only aimed toward track-day events and various motorsport competitions, because its future owners will not be able to drive it on public roads.

Some of the changes which will be applied to the sports car include an updated body with a more aggressive design. Look for new aerodynamic bits and pieces, a revised front apron, rear diffuser, front intakes, and a large rear wing.

The cabin of this exotic model is expected to be stripped out so no radio or air conditioning units will be found here. However, expect a roll cage, a bucket seat with a six-point harness, a fire extinguisher, and all the necessary tweaks made to a racer. Porsche claims that the Cayman GT4 Clubsport will use the same lightweight strut front suspension as the 911 GT3 Cup, as well as the race-spec braking system, with 380-mm steel discs on all four wheels.

The 3.8 liter flat-six engine from the road car might find its way to the track variant as well, but in a different form, and it will be connected to a double-clutch transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The racer will be homologated to compete in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Pirelli World Challenge, Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA, Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, the Porsche Club of America races, other similar competitions from all over the world. The Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport will open its order books on November 18. Customers living in the U.S. will be able to buy it via Porsche Motorsport North America, while in Europe it will become available through Porsche Motorsport in Weissach.
