Four decades ago Porsche, the well-known German manufacturer, created the Targa roof in order to provide the protection of a built-in rollover bar asked by the governmental safety regulations. The 2007 Porsche 911 Targa is offered these days in a different form with two large sunroofs instead of the remouvable glass panel.

A German enthusiat who thought that Porsche owners could get a true Targa roof, developed a classic hardtop that fits any Porsche 911 convertible and which recreates the retro look of the car.

Unveiled at the Sema Auto Show, the Targa-style roof is developed by a company called VeloTech and it is available at a price of $10,000. Why this big price? Well, according to the manufacturer this is due to the use of materials such as carbon fiber.
