For a lot of folks out there, it’s the same old story. You get up in the morning, shuffle over to the window, and groan as you pull the curtains back to reveal foot upon foot of powder, stretching as far as the eye can see. It lasts for months, and as sure as the Earth keeps spinning, it’ll happen again next year.

But maybe we’re just looking at it the wrong way. Maybe instead of seeing the snow as a hindrance, we should look at it as an opportunity.

That’s what Porsche->ke1 did recently at Moscow Raceway. The German automaker brought a variety of AWD machinery to play in the low-grip conditions. Attendees enjoyed ice sculpting, dogsledding, ice-skating, inner-tubing, and of course, plenty of test-drives to hone those car-control skills. On loan were a few 911s,->ke282 Panameras,->ke1840 Macans,->ke2674 and Cayennes.->ke212

Even if your ride doesn’t hail from Stuttgart, you can throw your own Winter Festival at home. Just find an empty parking lot devoid of anything terribly solid, set up some orange traffic cones, and have at it. When the cops ask what you’re doing, kindly explain to them “Ich übe mein Russisch. Ist das nicht großartig Winter?”

Porsche Cayenne GTS

The Porsche SUV->ke145 has been with us since 2002, and in that time, it’s become one of the marque’s most popular models. Porsche boasts that every vehicle it makes is a sports car,->ke506 a claim the Cayenne GTS can back up, with a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 under its hood. With 440 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, this machine can hit 60 mph in under five seconds, while top speed is rated at 163 mph. It has an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox routing power to all four corners.

Reigning in 4,652 pounds of curb weight is Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), plus large 15.4-inch brake rotors in the front and 14.1-inch rotors in the rear.

The interior is a nice place to be, with ample seating for five and plenty of space in the back for luggage, groceries, or a dog sled, as the situation dictates. Eight-way adjustable seats in the front are nicely bolstered for high lateral forces, plus they come covered in leather and Alcantara. Also, the 2015 model enjoys a new multifunction, three-spoke steering wheel based on the unit in the 918->ke3629 hypercar.

Pricing starts at $61,700 for a base model Cayenne, while the GTS bumps that figure up to $95,500. Anyone interested in ultimate SUV power can opt for the $160,000 Turbo S model.
