A little over a year after it took the whole auto world by storm, the reign of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is about to come to an end. Production of the 840-horsepower muscle car is over after Fiat Chrysler Automobiles built the final production model of the Challenger SRT Demon. All told, Dodge built 3,300 units of the Challenger SRT Demon, including the final production model that will be offered as part of the “Ultimate Last Chance” package that Dodge and Barrett-Jackson will offer at an auction next month.

We all knew it was going to end at some point. Dodge said from the beginning that it only planned to build the Challenger SRT Demon for one year at a capped number of 3,300 units. One year and 3,300 models later, the Challenger SRT Demon is about to head to retirement. The final production model was built yesterday at the company’s Brampton Assembly plant in Canada. Like most final production models, the last Challenger SRT Demon is going to wear exclusive garb to showcase its status. It’s getting an exclusive Viper Red paint finish, exclusive drag radial tires, a front passenger seat, rear seat delete, a trunk carpet kit, car cover, VIN instrument panel badge, and a Demon Authentication package. It also gets the Demon Crate, which includes narrow front-runner drag wheels, a performance powertrain control module with high-octane engine calibration, replacement switch module with high-octane button, and a set of Demon-branded track tools that are being thrown in for good measure.

All that’s on top of the car that’s also getting the same 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 that all other versions of the Challenger SRT Demon have. That engine’s good for 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque, enough to propel it from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds and to a world-record quarter-mile time for a production car of only 9.65 seconds at 140 mph.

Needless to say, acquiring the final production Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is going to be far more difficult — and much more expensive — than any other model of its kind. You can’t buy it outright because the car itself is going to be offered by Dodge and Barrett-Jackson as part of the “Ultimate Last Chance” package that will also include the final production Dodge Viper. The whole package will be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson’s northeast auction next month in Connecticut where it is expected to easily reach the seven-figure range. Considering that the first-production Challenger SRT Hellcat fetched $1.65 million on its own, a $2 million bid seems like a conservative estimate.

Let’s hope it gets to that number because all the proceeds from the auction will go directly to the United Way.
