The BMW 8 Series goes on sale this month, and prospective owners can already look forward to a wealth of ways to modify the luxury grand tourer that steps in to replace the 6 Series. One such option comes from Prior Design who proposes an outlandish body kit.

Now that we've seen how both the coupe and the convertible 8 Series looks like, it's time to let the tuners do their thing and rework the car's appearance. One of the first to do just that is Prior Design who previews a wide body design for the grand tourer that enhances the car's already menacing look. To top things off, they decided a vivid red would be the best color for it.

Is the Prior Design 8 Series wide enough for you?

One would think that the first tuner to rise to the occasion and give the 8 Series a body kit would be German tuners Hartge or AC Schnitzer, both of which have been modifying BMWs for decades. However, one of the boldest attempts that we've seen thus far comes from Prior Design. Their studio presented this render which portrays a flaming red 8 Series.

First off, the outer grilles underneath the headlights are bigger, fitting in just perfectly with the flared arches that barely wrap around the 21-inch multi-spoke black PD4 rims. Then there's the inlet underneath the BMW kidneys which was also enlarged and go two honeycomb-shaped nostrils on either side.

The hood was altered too, receiving a rearward-facing air vent with louvers. The widening theme continues at the back where the bulging arches cover the already wide shoulders of the 8 Series. Also, Prior Design added an air vent just before the rear wheel well within the side skirt and enlarged the opening aft of the front wheel well. At the back, the tuning company fitted a carbon fiber spoiler for aerodynamic purposes.

Prior Design hasn't let anything out regarding the price of the body kit or if more mechanical tweaks are in store. We also don't know when the kit will become available for those proud BMW 8 Series owners that think the 4,100-pound grand tourer doesn't stand out enough as it arrives from the factory.
