Born as a Group B rally car->ke191 and built for the road in only 337 units, the Porsche 959 is widely regarded as the most sought-after Porsche->ke1 in history. The fact that it was hailed as the most technologically advanced vehicle of the 1980s, delivered impressive performance, and was Porsche's first-ever supercar->ke177 also contributed to its reputation. Nearly 30 years have passed since the 959->ke926 was put into production, and car collectors are willing to pay millions to get their hands on one.

This is exactly what will happen at Gooding & Company's car auction->ke2845 at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance,->ke2839 where the 959 shown above is expected to change hands for $1.6 to $1.8 million.

Only three cars have been finished in this color and the auction house says it has been factory maintained its entire life. That said, it's not surprising Gooding & Company expects it to fetch more than $1.5 million.

If the estimated auction price proves to be accurate, it would only reflect the significant increase in vintage Porsche prices that's been going on for a few years. A bid in excess of $1.5 million wouldn't be surprising either, considering this 959 isn't just one of three cars in this color and interior combination, but also a near-mint vehicle that's been taken care of only by Porsche specialists since it left the factory in 1988. It doesn't get any better than this, even though the black paint job might not be to everyone's taste.
