Man’s fascination with Lego stems from the insatiable need to build things. Whether it’s a small Lego kit or a 3,599-piece Bugatti Chiron, the act and subsequent gratification that comes from building Lego kits is a big reason the toy line remains as successful as it is today. Some people, like Instagram user Replica Motorsport, even make businesses out of the kits they build. Replica Motorsport’s Lego gig involves recreating some of the auto world’s most beloved engines in miniaturized sizes and then selling them to those interested enough in trying to recreate the build. It’s not something casual Lego builders would be interested in, but for the auto-obsessed lot out there, and there are many, these small engine kits are the perfect embodiment of your Lego fandom.

Check out Replica Motorsport’s Instagram page, and you’re going to be blown away by the scaled-down Lego engine kits in it. Lego versions of the Chevrolet LS and Porsche’ air-cooled flat-six engines are there. Look closer, and you’ll also see a Honda K-series inline-four engine, complete with moving pistons. My personal favorite, though, is the 3.0-liter, 2JZ-GTE, twin-turbo, inline-six engine from the Toyota Supra.

The intricacy of these engines is a sight to behold. Traditionally measuring around seven inches long, four inches wide, and five inches high, these Lego creations proved to be popular enough that Replica Motorsport actually had to order enough spare parts to sell kits to the public.

Not that it matters because the kits and bricks are all being put to good use. You may recognize some of the engines that have been immortalized in Lego form. Then again, you might not recognize others, either. But the whole point of Replica Motorsports’ attempts to recreate these engines in Lego form is to showcase them as unique collector’s pieces. Given how difficult it often is to build Lego kits that exceed 1,000 pieces or more, buying these small and easy-to-build engine kits could be the right way to go about it.

And for what they’re worth, the ones that Replica Motorsport have created look nothing short of spectacular.
