Rolls-Royce has revealed its new Privacy Suite feature for the new extended-wheelbase version of the Phantom luxury limousine. The Privacy Suite is a new feature that lets occupants of the extended-wheelbase Phantom prevent the driver and the front passenger from seeing what is happening in the rear of the car, ensuring that occupants can enjoy moments of privacy and luxury all to themselves. The unveiling of the Privacy Suite took place at the Chengdu Motor Show.

Rolls-Royce knows a thing or two about class and luxury. The new Privacy Suite feature for the extended-wheelbase version of the Rolls-Royce Phantom is proof of that. On the surface, it looks like your typical privacy glass that a lot of limousines today already have. But this one’s different. A lot different.

If you really want privacy inside the Phantom limousine, this is the privacy glass that’s going to make your dreams come true.

In typical Rolls-Royce fashion, the sheet of electrochromatic glass isn’t the only standout feature of Rolls-Royce’s Privacy Suite. There are also curtains that can be drawn, preventing onlookers from seeing into the car. Apart from cutting any chance of looking inside the cabin, the package also comes with a frequency-specific compound that prevents anyone, specifically in the front of the vehicle, from listening to whatever conversations happen in the back of the car.

Even when the glass and the compound are activated, passengers can still communicate with the driver through a fully integrated intercom. Passengers only need to press a button to communicate with the driver instantly and directly. On the other hand, the driver or the front passenger will have to “call” the rear passengers should either one of them want to communicate with the folks at the back. Choosing to accept or reject these “calls” falls on the rear passenger. For those times when the rear passenger wants privacy, but pangs for a cheeseburger suddenly emerge, the integrated intercom will save your day.

This device allows documents or other objects to pass between the front and rear cabins. There’s a hatch that’s subtly illuminated so the rear passenger can see what items or documents are passed through.

Finally, the Privacy Suite package also comes with a bespoke theater system that includes a pair of 12-inch monitors. These monitors can display data from a number of sources, including the limousine’s onboard infotainment system or a mobile device that you can plug-in through HDMI connectivity.

Rolls-Royce’s new Privacy Suite Package is all that you’ll need if you want privacy inside the Phantom limousine. Obviously, you’re going to need an actual extended-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantom, too, but that’s a problem for another day.
