That smoky teaser photo of the Spirit of Ecstasy might not specifically allude to what we've come to expect from auto teasers, but rest assured, Rolls-Royce is planning for a grand return at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.->ke228

The British automaker has just announced the upcoming release of the most powerful model the company has ever built: the Rolls-Royce Wraith.

Auto historians might remember the Wraith from way back in the 30's. But since then, Rolls Royce->ke74 hasn't used the name in any models, making this comeback all the more tantalizing.

No official details have been revealed about the Wraith, but it does put credence to all those teasers and spy photos we've seen in the past months of a model that we previously thought of as the Corniche.

The reborn Wraith, which has been reported to pack a turbocharged 6.6-liter V-12 engine with 600 horsepower, is expected to be Rolls-Royce's third model, following the Phantom->ke1283 and the Ghost->ke3434. To their credit, the British automaker is off to a good start drumming up interest for the car.

“Expect the boldest design, the most dramatic performance and the most powerful Rolls-Royce that has ever played host to the famous Spirit of Ecstasy figurine," said Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös, before adding that we should expect a model whose starting point is "luxury, refinement and exclusivity".

Expect the Wraith to be available for purchase towards the latter part of the year. Until then, RR promises to release additional teaser images at 00:01 GMT on February 12th, 19th and 26th. We'll post them once they are released.
