If you’ve heard of the Twindoor system, chances are you’ve probably heard of Skoda->ke1348. The Czech-based Volkswagen subsidiary is known for their innovative technology all while giving new meaning to the term ‘hybrid’ – and were not talking about fuel efficiency.

That being said, Skoda is set to unveil their latest creation, an estate version of their Superb sedan->ke1348, the Superb Kombi at the Frankfurt Motor Show, along, of course, with about two dozen other vehicles of different classes.

But while the Superb Kombi is neither a sports car nor a luxury sedan, it does have one thing none of those other cars car come close to having: the Twindoor trunk/tailgate system.

In a nutshell, the Twindoor system is a technology Skoda has adopted wherein its cars basically have two trunks – or to better put it, a trunk within a trunk. When opened together, the entire space made available rounds up to about 20 cubic feet, which is pretty impressive.

Apart from the Twindoor, Skoda is also banking on the Superb Kombi’s on the wagon’s wide array of engine options – three gas versions and three diesel versions – to help the car attract more of a following outside its native country. These engines come with either a six-speed manual tranny or the more sophisticated DSG dual-clutch transmission.

So far, Skoda has released very few teasers of their new wagon to the public. But whatever the case, the company has made it be known that they are headed to Frankfurt with their new toy in tow.

That being said, we know that the Frankfurt Motor Show will be littered with luxury and super cars galore, but we strongly suggest that you take the time to give the Superb Kombi a look. You’d be surprised at what this wagon can actually do.
