Skoda has finally thrown some light on the first vRS SUV from its stable. The Kodiaq vRS will be unveiled at the upcoming Paris Motor Show in October. Skoda has released two official pictures, giving us a preview of what to expect from the explosive beast. The Czech automaker is also set to reveal the new vRS logo! Excited much?

What Do We Know So Far?

The new Kodiaq vRS will be powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, diesel engine that produces 235 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Trivia – this happens to be the most powerful production diesel engine in Skoda’s history! This is a significant bump over the stock Kodiaq, which produces 177 horses in the petrol guise. The current Kodiaq zooms from naught to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds; so expect the vRS to be much quicker. As for the other specs, we’ll have to wait till the official unveiling in October. In fact, this car set a record for being the fastest seven-seater at the Nurburgring a couple of months back. To be honest, Skoda has nothing to be proud of.

A Little About The vRS

The vRS monikers have been slapped on Skoda’s sportiest production cars since 2000. However, the Kodiaq is the first SUV to join the ‘fast club’; carrying the automaker’s 117-year old motorsport and rally history into the SUV segment. With the Kodiaq vRS' launch, Skoda will also be revealing the new vRS logo, which is expected to be changed for the first time, since it was first seen on the Octavia vRS.

Our Take

All the vRS model up until now have been well received by consumers. Will the Kodiaq also get the same results? It’s a little tough to say because of the fly in the ointment - the diesel engine.
