Okay, let's pull the magnifying glass away from Detroit for a second and head somewhere a little colder. What could we possibly be interested in that is colder than Detroit in early January? The 2016 BMW 7 Series that our spy photographers caught testing in the crisp -22 degree F air of Northern Sweden, of course.

The next BMW 7 Series->ke323 will be offered in both normal and long wheel base versions, and rumors suggest it will drop about 450 pounds from the current generation, thanks to the use of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials. This drop in weight is an obvious attempt to help improve the 7 Series' handling and performance, as well as bump its fuel mileage a bit.

The next 7 Series will be offered with a range of six- , eight- and twelve-cylinder engines all connected to automatic gearboxes. A plug-in version is also in the works.

The new BMW 7 Series will be launched sometime in 2015.

The prototype caught testing by our spy photographers wears lots of camouflage, so it's pretty tough to see what's doing under that swirly mess. Of course, this is a BMW sedan, so it's not like it'll be a revolutionary redesign.

Expect the next 7 Series to offer the same design elements you've seen in the recently launched 3 Series and 5 Series, but with a bit more class.
