We've been speculating about a possible M6 GranCoupe ever since BMW->ke178 has unveiled the 6-Series Gran Coupe, but today, the car was caught testing for the first time to show as proof that all those speculations were correct. However, don't expect to see the M6 Gran Coupe launched until the end of 2012. When that does happen, it will take on models like the Mercedes CLS AMG and the Audi S7.

Just like the recently announced M6 Coupe and M6 Convertible, the next M6 GranCoupe will be powered by a 4.4 liter V8 that delivers a total of 560 HP and a peak torque of 500 lbs-ft. It has been rumored that the M6 Gran Coupe will get a power increase of about 20 HP, up to a total of 580 HP. The engine will be mated to a newly developed 7-speed double-clutch transmission and will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds, while top speed is limited to 155 mph.

The future M6 Gran Coupe will be distinguished by a more aggressive and sportier look, including more aggressive front and rear fascias with the usual M-type elements, larger wheels, and quad-exhaust system.
