Lotus->ke49 has teased that it would be announcing something exciting and new at Geneva,->ke228 and it seems that we now know what it is bringing. While many Lotus fans were hoping for a new car, it seems that all we will be getting is refreshed Evora. If you need proof, just take a look at these new shots from our spy photographers. They caught a new Evora->ke3240 covered from head to toe in camo running around the streets of Britain.

Lotus is strapped for cash, so the changes seen are minor. The bumper has been refreshed slightly, and the side sills look to have been altered. The new shape may make it a touch easier to get in and out of the car. The headlights also look to have been slimmed up just slightly. Curb weight should get cut, and the Toyota->ke88 V-6 engine should be massaged to produce just a touch more power. New exhaust and a revised intercooler should help with the boost in performance.

Why it matters

It is no secret that Lotus is struggling. Its car portfolio is essentially more than a decade old, most of its cars aren’t even eligible for sale in the U.S. anymore, and the company doesn’t have the money to make new cars. The Evora is the only car that can still be sold stateside, and giving it a refresh with less weight, more performance and better styling will help make it more attractive to new buyers. New buyers means more capital, and more capital means new cars. It’s a long shot, but it is currently the only real chance Lotus has with its current budget.

There is a still a tiny chance that Lotus will have an extra surprise at the Geneva Auto Show in March, but this appears to be the only thing that the British company is bringing.

2016 Lotus Evora - Spy Shots

The Lotus Evora is the newest car to come from the legendary British sports-car manufacturer. It is powered by a Toyota V-6 engine borrowed from the Camry, but it features a supercharger that boosts output to 345 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to the Evora’s low weight, it can hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and carry on to a top speed of 178 mph. With the new 2016 model, expect to see that 0-to-60 sprint drop to under four seconds with a top speed in the range of 185 mph.
