At first, it may look like these spy shots feature a regular SLS AMG->ke2504 supercar, but with a closer look, we can see that this is actually one of the first prototypes for the production version of the Mercedes AMG SLS E-Cell. Proof of this is in the absence of an exhaust system and our spy photographers' notes of the model not making one sound during testing.

This means that the future AMG E-Cell previewed with the first concept version back in 2010 will be finding its way into production very soon, providing Mercedes->ke187 with a strong competitor for the Audi R8 E-tron.

The Mercedes SLS AG E-Cell Concept was powered by four electric motors - one on each axle. The four electric motors delivered an impressive 526 HP and 649 lb-ft of torque, while the vehicle's redline went up at a screaming 12,000 rpm. On a full charge, the concept version was good for 90 miles, but the production version promises even more with a range of 120 miles.

If everything goes as planned, the new SLS AMG E-Cell will arrive on the market in 2013.
